Sustainability is the cornerstone of all our endeavors at LIFE in the Garden. We are dedicated to practices that protect and rejuvenate the Earth, ensuring that our initiatives contribute to a healthier planet for current and future generations.

“Matthew Parris, a British journalist, wrote in the London Times, “As an atheist, I truly believe Africa needs God.” In a day and age in which many in our society believe Christianity to be irrelevant (at best) or dangerous (at worst), Parris’s conviction shocked me. In his article he repeatedly asserted his unbelief in God, but he admitted that his own beliefs are insufficient to solve the issues of corruption and poverty in our world. Shortly after a trip to Africa, he wrote: Now a confirmed atheist, I’ve become convinced of the enormous contribution that Christian evangelism makes in Africa: sharply distinct from the work of secular NGOs, government projects and international aid efforts. These alone will not do. Education and training alone will not do. In Africa Christianity changes people’s hearts. It brings a spiritual transformation. The rebirth is real. The change is good. 4”

Our Genesis: From Urgency to Action

LIFE in the Garden was born from the stark realities of a Northern Uganda refugee camp, a place where the daily struggle for food was heartbreakingly evident. The sight of undernourishment and the impact of global crises like COVID-19 on already scarce food provisions propelled us into action.

Our response was not just immediate but also visionary, seeking to address a growing global crisis: the surge from 572 million to 735 million undernourished people in just five years, predominantly in underdeveloped nations.

Our Mission: Beyond Agriculture to Empowerment

At the heart of LIFE in the Garden is a mission to break the cycle of hunger and dependence by empowering individuals with the skills and knowledge to grow their own food. Our focus extends beyond mere survival – it’s about instilling self-sufficiency, reigniting productivity, and helping people rediscover their purpose. We see the future in children and extend our educational outreach to schools in developing countries, fostering a new generation of knowledgeable, independent thinkers and doers.
